“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17 – NIV) Today, I launch a new clergy collegial blog. I hope we will encourage and empower each other toward success and excellence in pastoral ministry. As I sit in the Pastor’s Study at Cambria Heights Community Church, I often ponder the possible feedback of clergy colleagues as it relates to preparing sermons, counseling in particularly difficult situation, designing fresh worship, balancing competing priorities of ministry, marriage and family, maintaining self-care, pursuing personal dreams and private interests outside of ministry and family, and finding resources to meet the ever evolving and changing needs of the people whom I serve. After a sustained period of prayer, reflection and meditation, I realize I can invite you to come “In The Pastor’s Study” for an exchange of ideas.

Inclusion in Community - Luke 14:15-25 Part Three

Inclusion in Community – Luke 14:15-25
Part Three

Concluding Reflections

In Christ’s stead, believers have the responsibility of inviting unbelievers to become part of the kingdom of God.  We are the ones who are to travel near and far and proclaim to everyone that a community exists in which everyone is welcomed without any preconditions.  The Church is a community that includes everybody.  This invitation will be a life changing event as the respondents will find food for their souls.  Moreover, they will receive the greater blessing of learning about the majesty of God as they learn from the different types of people who belong to the kingdom  of God.

Lesson Objectives

  • To help learners determine the criteria that they use in choosing people with whom to associate and socialize.
  • To discuss God’s idea of inclusiveness in the kingdom of God.
  • To assist learners in developing skills for inviting people to the banquet of God.

Prayer

Thank You, our gracious, loving and merciful Father, for loving us unconditionally.  We appreciate Your incredible gift.  Move our hearts and minds to action as we share Your unfailing love with all of Your children.  In Jesus name, we pray.  Amen.
